I’ve been baking for lunchboxes, and this yummy little slice is always a hit.
With a crispy, coconutty oat base and a chocolate topping, you won’t believe how easy it is to throw together. The perfect lunchbox (or just because) treat!
Oaty chocolate squares
Description
I have adapted this from Alison Holst’s microwave oaty squares recipe (I prefer the oven-baked crunch!)
Ingredients
Oaty squares
Chocolate topping
Instructions
Oaty squares
-
-
Preheat the oven to 160°C fan bake (or 180°C regular.)
-
Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over a low heat. Add sugars, oats, coconut and vanilla and mix well.
-
Press into a lined 20cm square tin. Make sure it is well compacted (I use a sheet of baking paper on top to press the slice down firmly.)
-
Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the slice is golden brown and nicely toasted on top.
Chocolate topping
-
-
Gently melt the nut butter and chocolate together (I do this in the microwave in 30-second increments.) Stir together well and spread on top of the baked base.
-
Chill and slice when firm.
